How easy is it to see? They hunt in daylight, but are not common

How big is it? Small - medium
What colour is it? Males and females are pale brown with heavy bars
What might I confuse it with? Nothing
Where are they? Areas of open heathland, such as Flanders Moss
What are they normally doing? Short-eared owls hunt during the daylight, so can sometimes be seen flapping clumsily over open ground. You might also disturb one that’s on the ground with prey.
Like the barn owl, they have a blunt appearance when flying.
