Osprey (summer visitor, but still rare)

The Osprey  returned to Scottish skies over 50 years ago, after decades of persecution. Famous for its taste in fish, it can often be seen in spectacular dives over the lochs and rivers along the Trail.

Wingspan: 5 feet (2.5 m)

Colour: Dark brown above, pale below.

Similar to: Common Buzzard and Red Kite

How do I know? The only raptor on the Trail to dive for fish, often seen over Lake of Menteith. Also the only raptor on the Trail with white underparts.
