Trossachs to Doune Bird of Prey Trail
Hen Harrier
Hen Harrier (rare and under threat)

The Hen Harrier is one of Britain's most threatened birds. The stunning males and 'ring tail' females can occasionally be seen hunting over farmland along the Trail in winter, and at Argaty Red Kites.

Wingspan: 3-4 feet (1-1.2 m)

Colour: Male is light grey above with black wing tips, female has a white tail band.

Similar to: Common Buzzard and Gulls

How do I know? The male Hen Harrier is the only all pale bird of prey to be found along the Trail.
