Trossachs to Doune Bird of Prey Trail
Golden Eagle
Golden Eagle (rare and elusive)

A truly iconic Scottish bird the Golden Eagle can occasionally be seen along the Trail above the Dukes Pass, also at Loch Katrine and the RSPB Inversnaid nature reserve, where they roam within large nesting terrtories.

Wingspan: 6-7 feet (2-2.5 m)

Colour: Dark golden brown, juveniles have white underwing patches

Similar to: Common Buzzard

How do I know? The Golden Eagle has noticeable 'fingers' on the wing tips and is usually seen flying at high altitude on warm sunny days, rarely seen perched by the roadside.
